Date: 2003-10-11 01:43 am (UTC)And if you haven't noticed, at the moment, we're not considered the American ideal. There is much the American Civil Liberties Union does do for minorities and the unjustly accused, but their scope doesn't consider mutants.
Whether they fear the backlash they might receive from their rich liberal constituents, or the chance of patriotism turn awry, I highly doubt the ACLU will broach the topic of mutants and their plight for quite some time.
But don't take my word for it, I've rarely been known to be objective with my opinions.

The American government hasn't taken away rights yet - something needs to prevent them from doing so.
The French goverment could stand a dose of it as well. Probably the other governments too.
What is Canada's position on mutant rights? There was a big deal on the news recently about Canada being very liberal about other human rights...
