NYC nightlife is pretty good, but it looks like you won't be able to get much of that, if Pete expects us to come home at 5 PM.
Aside from that, I'd suggest the museums, if they're not too tourist-y for you. You like art, right? The Met is an amazing place, of course, but I also really like the Frick. It's a much smaller museum good for circa 18th century European art, if you're into that. They have whole rooms decorated in the Rococo style and whatnot. (I had to go there for an art history class, so.)
