My parents are, as expected, being parents.
I think they asked me questions for the entire drive home - and the drive home was strange to begin with. I am not sure we've ever spent that much time in a car all at once. Four hours seems like a lot more when you cross borders, I think. I liked it better when they just assumed the nuns were teaching the right things.
They know my grades and what classes I am taking - that, I tell them on the phone or in email, and they get offical papers from Professor Xavier, but they asked about.. well, everyone.
How are my teachers, how are my classes, who are my friends, what are they like? They did -not- ask the one question I expected, which is good, because I have no idea how I would answer that.
...
I told them about the precognition.
They.. were not upset but surprised, I think. My mother was oddly pleased. This bothers me more than I can properly explain. She also thinks I should go to church. I fear these are related.
Today, however was a much better day. My father says they had to sign a paper saying that certain people at the school may act as my legal guardians while I am at the school. I did not know this. They never tell me these kinds of things.
It is good, because it means that I can get my drivers license! Two years before I thought I could!
I have all the other papers, except that form that says I do not have some kind of identification number - Social .. something. I have a re-entry permit now, and a passport and visa. Lots of travel paperwork means lots and lots of proof that I am actaully Marie-Ange Colbert and not someone else.
On the other hand, my father now informs me I have to bring -it- back with me when I leave. Geh. Cellos. Ick

Date: 2004-03-17 03:41 pm (UTC)What question were you expecting?
And heey, I didn't know you played the cello. Cool.
...
Date: 2004-03-17 03:55 pm (UTC)I was actually expecting them to ask if I had 'found a nice young man' yet. I am somewhat disappointed, I had a perfectly good clever answer all planned too.
I played the cello, though I cannot play without sheet music.
My parents say I have to -keep- playing it, or at least bring it with me, because they did not spend all that money on it just to let it sit in the house and collect dust.
Re: ...
Date: 2004-03-17 04:01 pm (UTC)And yeah, that sounds like parents (both do, really.) You could always tell them you've met this dangerous hacker in a rock band who wears leather pants, and that you've thought about dying your hair blue. :)
And Alison knows you have a cello now. You'll be playing it.
:)
Date: 2004-03-17 04:11 pm (UTC)I could. Except that I'm not dying my hair blue anytime soon. I would look -awful- with blue hair!
I knew I should have posted this to the students community and not my own journal.

Date: 2004-03-17 04:14 pm (UTC)And yeah, that's what I meant. You thought about it just long enough to decide you weren't going to do it. The trick is, you don't have to tell your parents that part. ;)
And hey, it won't be that horrible. She got me to play an instrument.
And it's another class with Doug. ;)

Date: 2004-03-17 04:17 pm (UTC)I think that if I am going to tell them that I know a dangerous hacker with leather pants, that I should have gone on a date with him first. That means he has to stop hiding though.
Now, that is almost a good reason to take a music class.
Re: :)
Date: 2004-03-17 04:21 pm (UTC)Kitty lured him out of hiding yesterday, actually, because she's all clever like that. And I have a rolled-up newspaper in case he tries it again.
We just need to make sure you learn cool things to play on the cello, that's all. Like "Stairway to Heaven." That might be nifty on a cello.
Re: :)
Date: 2004-03-17 04:29 pm (UTC)There are only a very few things you can play on a cello that are at all cool.
Stairway to.. I should know that song, shouldn't I?

Date: 2004-03-17 08:25 pm (UTC)Nah, I just promised to keep you from harassing him _too_ much, which does mean no newspapers. Figured we should keep him in semi-coherent form at least until M-A gets back, no?
Re: :)
Date: 2004-03-17 08:28 pm (UTC)Fine, fine. I'll be good. But he's been saying "wibble" an awful lot for a guy fluent in that many languages.

Date: 2004-03-17 03:42 pm (UTC)Does that mean you're taking music class next term?
*predatory*

Date: 2004-03-17 03:58 pm (UTC)(It was cello or flute, and I do not care for flutes)
If I do not take music, am I going to find myself pouted at by anyone small, green and adorable?
