Doug and I will be away from June 23rd until July 7th.

In specific, if I am reading this set of tickets right, we are flying to Lyons on the 23rd, then to Denver on the 30th and then back here on the 7th.

Doug - I have no idea if my parents and your parents have been in contact with each other. I suspect they have, since I have the tickets in my email in-box as e-tickets. Do you know? Did you find your passport? PLEASE tell me you found your passport.

Yes, I have my passport, love. Just got it in the mail today.

Oh good.

Excellent. Do you have any idea if our parents spoke?

I _think_ they did. Not sure.

Humour me and ask? I am afraid to ask mine. I have a horrible dooming fear that my mother was involved somehow and now your parents think mine are insane.

Hey, that's . . . the day after tomorrow. Have fun. :)

Yes. Much with the packing frantically and wondering how much of my father's frequent flyer miles went into those tickets.

I expect I shall be getting a lecture from at least one parent on last-minute-planning.

That would explain the multilingual laundry storm, then, I'd wondered about that.

Yes.

Yes. I like how Doug starts talking to his in random languages. I think he is trying to coax the parts that have become sentient into volunteering to walk themselves to the laundry room.

Yeah, that's always a fun show. S' why I don't bug him about actually doing his laundry before it discovers the wheel.

I am one to talk, to be honest. I have sorely neglected mine.

Ah, but you're going home. And it's traditional, or so my cousins say, to present your mother with a large bag of dirty laundry when you arrive home from being at school somewhere else.

Somehow, I doubt that will work quite so well with my mother.

Also, I rather enjoy clean clothing, and as I have - at the moment - none, except the leather pants, and I absolutly cannot in any way wear those home, I am off to the laundry room.

Besides, there is something terribly comforting about warm socks.

Warm socks are one of the world's most underrated pleasures.

And hey, you could always tell her "well, at least I didn't dye my hair blue like my boyfriend's roommate suggested once." That might make the leather pants look less shocking. :)

I think I am going to stick to broken-in-jeans and a blouse. Leather pants are not really suitable for extended standing in immigration lines.

Good point. Extended standing anywhere, really. But especially in immigration lines where you don't know who's standing behind you and whether they were raised with manners.

Also, I am fairly sure that Doug will need all the blood in his -brain- and not anywhere else. He has to do as much standing-in-lines as I do.

And he has to remember to speak French. So, yeah, blood in brain good.

You know, in Doug's case, I am not sure if it is a matter of remembering.

I am almost certain that there are immigration officers who speak English, even if it was a problem.

Well, he has to remember not to speak Proto-Ugaric, then, or something. :)

And yeah, but I bet they're nicer if you speak the language. Because at least you're trying, right?

Looks like I'll have to make sure I find you and give you your prezzie before you go then. ;) Have fun.
