Because you would have tried to get off of the Haunted Mansion ride, and then they would have had to stop all the cars, and all the other visitors would have been very angry at you, and you would have gotten us thrown out of the park.

I've always preferred cultures that made post-death into a party instead of anything dealing with vengeful spirits or eternal torment or standing around in unending prayer.

Technically, the only places that has death as eternal torment are religions - there's very few cultures that have ever had any kind of horrible afterlife.
